Excerpt from Petrichor

Composed by Kenyon Williams

Piece Type: Solo

Instruments Used: Crotales, Temple Blocks, Timpani

This is an excerpt from Petrichor by Kenyon Williams. The piece starts off with a sort of crotale section, which gradually speeds up, leading into the section I like to refer to as a timpani "breakdown". During the timpani section, there are numerous runs including a sextuplet run. Additionally, there are lots of glissandos, and polyrhythms between the templeblocks, crotales, and timpani. The excerpt ends with a sort of ticking clock sound from the templeblocks.
